Service Guide

Duct Leakage Testing

What to expect from start to finish — most visits are completed in a single appointment.

How Duct Testing Works

1

Registers sealed

Every supply register and return grille is sealed with reusable register seals, leaving one opening for the calibrated fan.

2

System pressurized

A calibrated duct pressurization fan pushes air into the ductwork to a standard test pressure of 25 Pascals.

3

Leakage measured

A digital manometer measures the airflow required to hold pressure — that number is your total duct leakage.

4

Pass/fail on the spot

We compare measured leakage against the applicable Title 24 allowance for your project and tell you the result immediately.

5

Documentation registered

Passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms and delivered for permit sign-off.

Service Guide

Quality Insulation Installation (QII)

What to expect from start to finish — schedule this inspection before concealed assemblies are covered.

How QII Works

1

Energy report review

We review the Title 24 energy report to confirm the specified R-values and insulation types for the applicable assemblies.

2

Room-by-room walkthrough

Insulated walls, ceilings, floors, and attic surfaces are visually inspected using the applicable verification method for the installed insulation type.

3

Detail verification

Air-barrier continuity, top-plate sealing, penetrations, and other required installation details are checked against the applicable protocols.

4

Corrections if needed

Deficiencies are identified clearly so they can be corrected before the assembly is concealed; re-verification may be required depending on the correction.

5

Certification & sign-off

Passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms so construction can proceed toward permit sign-off.

Service Guide

Refrigerant Charge Verification

What to expect from start to finish — test conditions must be within the applicable protocol range.

How Refrigerant Charge Testing Works

1

System run-up

The AC or heat pump operates at the required capacity long enough to stabilize operating conditions.

2

Measurements taken

Calibrated instruments record the required refrigerant-line, air-temperature, and pressure measurements.

3

Charge evaluated

Measured values are compared with the applicable manufacturer and Title 24 verification criteria.

4

Pass/fail result

You receive the result immediately, along with useful correction information for the HVAC contractor if the charge is outside the allowable range.

5

Documentation registered

Passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms for permit sign-off.

Service Guide

Airflow Testing

What to expect from start to finish — most visits are completed in a single appointment.

How Airflow Testing Works

1

System configured

A clean filter is installed, registers are opened, and the system is configured for the required operating condition.

2

Airflow measured

Calibrated measurement equipment is used to determine actual delivered system airflow.

3

Required airflow compared

Measured airflow is compared against the requirement shown by the applicable energy documentation and verification protocol.

4

Diagnostics if low

When airflow is low, pressure and system observations can help identify likely restrictions such as filters, coils, returns, or ductwork.

5

Documentation registered

Passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms for permit sign-off.

Service Guide

Blower Door Testing

What to expect from start to finish — most visits are completed in a single appointment.

How Blower Door Testing Works

1

Building prepared

Exterior doors and windows are closed, interior doors opened, and intentional openings are sealed or configured according to the test protocol.

2

Blower door installed

A calibrated fan and frame assembly is fitted into an exterior doorway with an airtight panel.

3

Building depressurized

The fan pulls air from the building to establish the required 50 Pascal pressure difference from outdoors.

4

Leakage measured

A digital manometer records the airflow needed to hold pressure, reported as CFM50 and air changes per hour (ACH50).

5

Results & documentation

You receive the result immediately, with applicable registered compliance forms delivered for permit sign-off.

Service Guide

Leakage to Outside (LTO)

Unlike total duct leakage, LTO isolates the portion of leakage that escapes outside the conditioned building envelope.

How Leakage to Outside Testing Works

1

Duct system prepared

Supply registers and return grilles are sealed as required, and the duct system is connected to calibrated pressurization equipment.

2

Building pressure controlled

A blower-door assembly is used to establish the required pressure relationship between the conditioned space and outdoors.

3

Ducts pressurized

The duct system is brought to the prescribed 25 Pascal test pressure while the conditioned space is also maintained at the required pressure relative to outdoors.

4

Outside leakage measured

The airflow needed to maintain the duct pressure under these conditions represents leakage that communicates with outdoors or unconditioned space outside the tested envelope.

5

Result & documentation

The measured LTO is compared with the requirement applicable to the project, and passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms.

Service Guide

Fan Efficacy & Watt Draw

What to expect from start to finish — airflow and blower power are evaluated together.

How Fan Efficacy & Watt Draw Testing Works

1

System at required airflow

The blower operates at the applicable design or verification airflow with a clean filter installed.

2

Watt draw measured

A calibrated power meter records the blower motor's electrical input.

3

Airflow measured

System airflow is measured using the applicable approved measurement method.

4

Efficacy calculated

Measured watts and airflow are used to determine fan efficacy and compare it with the applicable project requirement.

5

Documentation registered

Passing results are documented on the applicable registered compliance forms for permit sign-off.
